TOP FIVE WINTER COLOGNES

Must have winter colognes

It’s winter season guys! Although you'll be wrapped up in layers for the next two or three months, you still want to be smelling good. With so many different colognes to choose from it's nearly impossible to find the right scent for you.

While there’s nothing wrong with using the same fragrance all year long, I'd recommend switching things up at least twice a year meaning keep your spring/summer colognes separate from the autumn/winter seasons.

Not many people are aware of what all the different ‘notes’ mean, so here is a quick breakdown to help you understand the difference and, hopefully, make it easier when buying your next cologne.

  1. Top Notes – These are scents you’ll smell first and will normally be on the lighter side.
  2. Base Notes – These are scents that are a bit stronger and will leave a lasting impression.
  3. Medium Notes – These scents are usually fruity or floral and will help balance out your top and base notes.

Now that you understand the meaning of 'notes', lets dive in with these winter must have colognes!

Dior Sauvage

Dior’s ‘Sauvage’ is a great option for just about any time of year and is one of the best-sellers. It smells fresh, outdoorsy, yet light enough at the same time so the scent doesn't choke you or the people around you.

If you’re giving this one as a gift for your brother, dad or that special guy in your life, you really can’t go wrong.

Creed Aventus

Aventus by Creed is my pick for the best cologne you can gift someone this year. However, it is a little pricey and will set you back a bit in the price department but, it’s totally worth it.

It has a 'rich' kind of scent. Once you smell it, you’ll understand what I mean by this. The masculine scent does a great job of combining earthy and woodsy scents with fruity undertones. A little goes a long way with this one, so you'll definitely get your money’s worth!

Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb

Spicebomb by Viktor&Rolf is making the list since it’s been one of the top-sellers for 4 years now.  Once you smell this one, you’ll be able to detect it on anyone else wearing it immediately.

The scent is so distinctive that you won't confuse it with any other cologne. It has notes of spice, leather, bergamot, and zesty vetiver. Furthermore, it can be worn all year round so this is a must have for every guy for sure.

Bleu De Chanel

This list would be incomplete without Bleu De Chanel on the list! Although this cologne started out as a summer and autumn scent, it has now morphed into a year-round top-seller.

It has a really nice balanced mix of woody scents with lighter citrus notes that help make this a daily must-wear, ideally evening occasions. Whether you’re picking this one up for yourself or gifting it to someone else you really can’t go wrong.

Tom Ford Oud Wood

Tom Ford’s “Oud Wood” is such a distinctive scent. It's earthy, woodsy, and gives you that feeling of being outdoors and super comforting all at the same time.

Although, it's a bit more on the expensive side, it will last you a while and again a little goes a long way with this one, so you won’t have to spray a ton of it on you to get its full effect!
