AUTUMN/WINTER STYLES 2019

It’s layer season, boys

From boots to long sleeves to jeans to jackets to Halloween to Christmas, what’s not to love about autumn/winter time?

If you love fashion, autumn is an opportunity to step up your style game. The cooler temperatures allow you to layer up, allowing you to tailor the outfit with your own personal touch.

In this post I will run through the top autumn/winter styles that every guy needs in his wardrobe for 2019!

Jackets

As autumn approaches jackets/coats will become the statement piece to your outfit, so it is essential you have this on point! Having the knowledge of what jackets go with what clothing item is important in building the perfect autumn/winter style outfit.

Parka/Trench Coat

The autumnal days ahead are sure to bring a fair amount of torrential downpours, along with the occasional dry spell, which means you need to equip yourself accordingly.

Not only are lightweight parkas and trench coats a great statement piece, but they also keep you dry during those rainy days. Over the years trench coats have become a lot more trendy with their sharp, slim fit, contemporary silhouettes, they are a must have in any mans wardrobe.

Leather Jacket

If you want to go for that 'bad-boy' edgy look then a leather jacket is for you! A simple leather jacket with black skinny jeans and Chelsea boots will make you stand out from the crowd.

However, not all men can pull this off, so it is worth trying out different styles of leather jackets to find the right one for you. Furthermore, if you are low on budget then feel free to opt for a faux leather jacket, which look just as great!

Overshirts

Overshirts are awesome for chillier days and can be layered with essentially anything. An overshirt traditionally replaces the option of wearing a jacket/coat.

Although, you could wear a jacket on top but personally that is too many layers and will make your outfit look 'confusing' to say the least!

Shirts & Sweaters

Of course shirts and sweaters can be worn all year round, but there are some styles that are made to be worn in autumn and winter seasons!

Oxford Shirt

An oxford cloth is a type of weave that’s similar to a plain canvas with yarn strands woven together instead of individually. These shirts are great to wear alone or with a sweater or jacket.

Instantly you will be seen as a guy who dresses well, despite the minimal effort it takes to pull it off! For autumn, I’d shoot for some Earth-ier colours like olive, grey, brown, and tan.

Flannel Shirt

It wouldn't be a men's fashion autumn blog without some cosy, fuzzy flannels thrown into the mix. Flannel is actually a type of soft woven fabric, lightweight that makes the perfect autumn piece.

Stock up on a few flannels in varying patterns and colours since you could wear them right through winter. They can easily be styled with a pair or chinos or slim/skinny jeans.

Sweaters

Aside from being something to keep you warm, sweaters are a stylish way to add some spice to your look. Textured sweaters are perfect as they can add more depth and detail to an otherwise plain-looking outfit.

Hoodie

There will be days where we want to be a little relaxed and comfortable, this is where hoodies come in. Wearing a hoody doesn’t mean that you can’t look both stylish and comfy though.

There’s a common misconception that hoodies are unfashionable, and that’s not necessarily true. Layering a lighter hoodie under a jacket or coat can look great, especially in a casual setting.

Jeans & Trousers

Time to put away those lighter colours and bring out the indigos, blacks and greys! Personally, this is my favourite time of season as I feel you can do so much with your outfits, from mixing and matching to same colours throughout!

Denim

Nothing’s more versatile and comfortable as a well-worn pair of jeans. Denim jeans have been an essential pillar of male fashion for more than a century now. Opt for a slim or skinny pair of darker denim in autumn and winter. Rock them with Chelsea boots or lace up boots.

Chinos

Chinos are a must-have for any man. Chinos come in literally every colour imaginable. Most chino pants are made from 100% cotton for increased stretch and comfort.

In terms of versatility, chinos are second to none. They can be worn as a business casual look or just as easily as more casual styles. Chinos are especially great in the autumn since they’re not too heavy and can pair seamlessly with boots or sneakers!

Trousers

As winter approaches wearing normal trousers might make you feel cold. However, for that warmth that you desire you can opt for a wool pair of trousers whilst also adding a touch of class to your outfit.

Of course local climate varies, so these may or may not be a piece in every guy’s wardrobe.

Boots

I'm not much of a trainer guy so another reason I love autumn is because I can wear my lace up boots without receiving any weird looks!

A woman can tell a lot about you by looking at your shoes guys, so you got to make sure they're on point. If you’re in need of a smart style that can be dressed up, it’s a pair of leather Chelsea boots you need. If you want that casual look then lace-up boots are your best friend!
